drama on the bbc

BBC1-They offer a load of dramas which the public would hopefully enjoy, they do aim for the dramas at the tax payer, license pay and families. They do offer some long running dramas which everyone likes for example Doctor who and causality. The target audience for

BBC 1 is a modern family, when I say modern family I mean the parents would watch the show with the son and daughters, BBC 1 also attract the eyes of the License Payers, They BBC want to provide the best shows which is worth the money that they pay, the BBC separates the money into 6 channels and BBC 1 budget is the biggest compared to the rest of the BBC channels, and this would bring in bigger audience and a much well known cast.

East Enders is one of the selling points of BBC1, Millions of people tune in to see What’s Happening at the Vic and the continued scripts and the additions of new cast, there has been numerous of famous people entering the square such as; Martin Kemp, Phil Daniels, Barbara Windsor, Shane Richie and many more.

BBC2- They offer an alternative to BBC 1 by showing crime dramas and other types of dramas, this is more for the crime lovers and people who what to have a change.

BBC 2 shows in my opinion are either crime and thriller drama’s or spin offs to BBC1 drama’s. One of the favorite shows shown on BBC 2 is the show that helped celebrate Doctor Who’s 50th anniversary show. “A Adventure In Time And Space”  is a drama about the first doctor and the producer, this was watched by millions and it helped spread the word about how it all started.

The audience for BBC 2 is sort of the same as BBC 1 but with the crime Drama’s being shown it draws in the over 50’s. BBC 2 has a lower budget than BBC 1 due to BBC1 being the mother channel and BBC2 is lower down the chain and don’t draw in well known casts.

BBC 3- They offer new dramas written by unknown writers and help launch shows, he drama on BBC three are all sorts, some are about war, some about life for example our world war was one of the biggest dramas on the channel.

BBC 3             draws young people to watch new dramas with unknown casts, their budget is one of the lowest and there are talks about BBC 3 being switch off to save the BBC money, This has caused an outcry from the young public.

The audience for BBC 3 ranges from 16 year olds to 34 year olds. The main reason why they say the target audience is 16 to 34 is because it draws in new talent and appeal to the young because of the new fresh comedy and drama which most older people will not understand.

I found all this information from the BBC website

role of the writer

What changes had to be made from the original book to the screen play?
Making larger roles for the female characters in the film: the script writers read the book of lord of the rings and they notices there are hardly any female characters in the book. The only female characters in the book had only a few lines. so the writers wanted to expand the roles of the females to make them more of the movie.

Taking out (omitting) certain characters in the film:the 3 writers broke the book down in to three parts and they would meet up to show the scripts for the scene they done and during these meeting was happening they kept talking about which characters they need in the script and which one not have.in the end they cut out two well known characters from the book. which the writers believe was the best thing to do.Tom Bombadol
Writing an exposition (what has happened before the film starts) scene for the beginning of the film: the needed to explain the story behind a scene like a battle scene for example the need to explain why they are fighting and who deserves to win. in lord of the rings they used gandalf to be the character to tell the story behind the battle scene or any other scene to make sense to the audience.

Working with the actors as characters to create some parts of the script: the great thing about having actors is that they will help with the write of lines what you  couldn't think off. the actors are the writers secret weapon. the writers for lord of the rings kept referring to the actors to see what their views on what the character would say.one of the routine they tried was to hot seat a actor and she what they came up with.
