What changes had to be made from the original book to the screen play?
Taking out (omitting) certain characters in the film:the 3 writers broke the book down in to three parts and they would meet up to show the scripts for the scene they done and during these meeting was happening they kept talking about which characters they need in the script and which one not have.in the end they cut out two well known characters from the book. which the writers believe was the best thing to do.Tom Bombadol
Writing an exposition (what has happened before the film starts) scene for the beginning of the film: the needed to explain the story behind a scene like a battle scene for example the need to explain why they are fighting and who deserves to win. in lord of the rings they used gandalf to be the character to tell the story behind the battle scene or any other scene to make sense to the audience.
Working with the actors as characters to create some parts of the script: the great thing about having actors is that they will help with the write of lines what you couldn't think off. the actors are the writers secret weapon. the writers for lord of the rings kept referring to the actors to see what their views on what the character would say.one of the routine they tried was to hot seat a actor and she what they came up with.
